Having trained as a boat builder in the late 1970s at the renowned Peter Freebody’s traditional boatyard on the river Thames, I then combined my knowledge and expertise with Colin Henwood’s, to create a very successful boatbuilding partnership, called Henwood and Dean.
After 15 years, I took my skills from the rivers to the roads. With the unfailing support of the coachbuilding community, and after a number of years adapting and honing my skills, I became Robert Dean, Ash Framing!
I collaborate with the client at the planning stage in order to understand the client’s vision.
I combine thorough research, creativity and meticulous attention to enhance the development of the project.
I utilise my passion for wood, along my commitment to exquisite craftsmanship, to create the desired outcome.
I want to close this page with a heart-felt shout out to my mentor and dear friend, the very much missed Tim Hastings. His knowledge was immense, his stamina was legendary, but most of all, his teaching was exemplary. Thank you!
